Assistive Listening Devices.
Assistive listening devices are devices that can help a hearing impaired listener function better in day-to-day communication situations. ALDs can be used with or without hearing aids to make hearing easier, which can reduce the overall stress and fatigue of listening. ALDs can be used in the home to make alarms, the television and telephone more audible. They can also be connected to most personal hearing aids for better listening in noisy environments.
We keep a supply of batteries for you to purchase in our office. Stop in routinely for fresh batteries. Make sure to check the batteries in your hearing aids often and make sure there is no dirt, wax or debris interfering with the batteries performance. Batteries that are properly charged will make a noise (a squeal) when cupped in your hand or after it has been inserted in your ear, when you cup your hand over the hearing aid it will also make a noise.

Custom Ear Molds – Swim Molds, Musician’s Ear Molds and Firearm Molds
We have the ability to craft custom ear molds to meet you special needs, i.e.: swim plugs, musician ear molds, and vital firearm protection.
In order for us to ascertain, whether your hearing loss, can be improved with a hearing aid, we must first determine your personal hearing profile, or “audiogram”. This is done with the use of an audiometer, by testing how well you hear a variety of speech and environmental sounds.
During your examination you will be tested using a series of low & high frequency words to determine your ability to understand verbiage within a conversation. We will also give you several words to repeat. The results will help us determine your percentage of hearing loss, your ability to understand speech and how hearing aids will improve your ability to hear.
If we find any abnormality during our testing, we will refer you to an E.N.T. for further diagnosis.
We will produce custom-made ear molds based on the exact contour of your ears. We can then ensure that your hearing aid fits perfectly.
Once fitted with your new hearing aids, we will schedule you for a follow-up to check that the instruments are working fine, and make any adjustments if needed. The first follow-up is scheduled about one week after the fitting.
Once you are comfortable that your hearing aids are working well, we would like to see you on a yearly basis, to check and clean your hearing aid as well as making any adjustments you would like.
You should always contact us as soon as possible, if you find that your hearing aids need an adjustment or other problems. If urgent, we can normally see you the same or next day. You will not have to wait weeks or more for an appointment,

You will be shown different styles or have the opportunity to try the suggested hearing aid style and techno- logy in our office. Custom impressions may be taken of your ears, depending on the style of hearing aid chosen.
Hearing Aid Fitting
To determine the optimum settings for your hearing aids, we use your audiogram, as well as your personal impression to evaluate how well you can hear. This adjustment process is carried out using a sophisticate computer program.
When adjusting your hearing aids, we make a visual speech-mapping test, to verify the adjustments we made.
Before you leave with your new hearing aids, we will provide you with detailed information on how to insert them in your ears (custom products) and how to maintain them to ensure a continuous good sound quality.
Hearing Aid Repairs
We service and repair all the brands we carry. Some minor hearing aid repairs can be done in our office in a short period of time – sometimes while you wait; others will require to be sent to the manufacturer for repair. Repairs by the manufacturer come with a standard 6 months’ warranty, which can be extended to 12 months.
Live Speech Mapping
We use Life Speech Mapping as a fitting verification process that uses probe microphones and live real-time speech to allow – not only us – but the patient and family members to immediately see and understand the benefits of hearing aids and fitting adjustments.
